This stunning holiday appetizer looks like it came straight from a fancy bakery, but it’s secretly super easy. Buttery puff pastry, melty brie, tangy cranberry sauce, crunchy pistachios, and a sweet honey drizzle… pure Christmas magic on a platter!
📋 ingredients:
• 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
• 1 wheel brie (cut into small cubes or thin slices)
• 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (jellied or whole berry)
• 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
• 1 egg (for egg wash)
• Honey, for drizzling
• Optional: fresh rosemary for garnish
🥣 directions:
prep the pastry
Lay out your puff pastry on parchment paper. Cut it into a large Christmas tree shape (a tall triangle with a trunk).
Use the excess trimmings to cut matching strips for layering the tree.
layer the goodness
Spread a thin layer of cranberry sauce over the tree.
Dot evenly with brie slices or cubes.
Sprinkle chopped pistachios across the filling.
assemble the tree
Place the matching pastry tree cutout on top to create a filled “sandwich.”
Press gently around the edges to seal.
add the branches
On both sides of the tree, cut horizontal slits about 1 inch apart, leaving the center intact.
Twist each strip 1–2 times to form the “branches.”
brush & bake
Brush with egg wash for that golden shine.
Bake at 400°F for 18–22 minutes, until puffed and deep golden brown.
finish with flair
Drizzle warm honey over the hot pastry.
Garnish with a few pistachios and rosemary sprigs for a festive touch.
serve
Slice or pull apart branch by branch. Best enjoyed warm while the brie is gooey!
💡 tips:
• Add a little orange zest to the cranberry sauce for extra brightness
• Swap pistachios for pecans if you prefer
• Use fig jam, raspberry jam, or apricot preserves for fun holiday variations
• Make two trees for large holiday gatherings — they disappear fast!
