Grilled Chicken Legs

Total Time: 45–60 minutes Yield: 4 servings 1x

Juicy and flavorful, these Grilled Chicken Legs are marinated with a simple blend of spices and grilled to perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—perfect for BBQs, picnics, or easy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

8 chicken drumsticks (about 2 lbs)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and lemon juice to make the marinade.

Add the chicken legs to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 12 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor).

Preheat grill to medium heat (about 375–400°F / 190–200°C). Lightly oil the grates.

Place chicken legs on the grill. Grill for 30–35 minutes, turning every 5–7 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy.

Remove from grill, let rest for 5 minutes, and serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

You can bake the chicken legs at 400°F (200°C) for 35–40 minutes if a grill is not available.

Add a tablespoon of honey or brown sugar to the marinade for a slightly sweet, caramelized finish.

Great served with coleslaw, grilled veggies, or corn on the cob.

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
