A melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cake layered with silky chocolate cream and fresh strawberries. Sweet, juicy, and dreamy in every bite!

For the Chocolate Cake
• 1 ¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
• ¾ cup (75 g) cocoa powder
• 2 cups (400 g) sugar
• 1 ½ tsp baking powder
• 1 ½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 large eggs
• ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
• 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)
• 1 cup (240 ml) hot water
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Cream Filling
• 1 ½ cups (360 ml) heavy cream
• 200 g dark chocolate, melted and cooled
• 3 tbsp powdered sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
For the Strawberry Layer
• 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
• 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for extra juiciness)
For the Topping
• Strawberries (whole or halved)
• Chocolate ganache OR melted chocolate drizzle (optional)

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F.
2. Line two 8-inch (20 cm) round pans with parchment and grease well.
3. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
4. Add eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
5. Slowly add hot water (batter will be thin — that’s good!).
6. Pour into pans and bake 28–32 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let cakes cool completely.

1. Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
2. Pour in melted (cooled) chocolate and vanilla.
3. Beat again until thick and fluffy.

• Toss sliced strawberries with sugar if using.
• Let them sit 5 minutes to release their juices.

1. Place the first cake layer on a plate.
2. Spread a thick layer of chocolate cream.
3. Add a generous layer of strawberries.
4. Add the second cake layer.
5. Cover the cake with the remaining chocolate cream.
6. Decorate the top with strawberries.
7. Drizzle with ganache or melted chocolate if desired.
