Ingredients
For the chicken soup:
2 cups cooked shredded chicken
4 cups chicken broth
1 cup milk or heavy cream
2 tbsp butter
1 small onion, diced
2 celery stalks, sliced (optional)
1–2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt & pepper to taste
For the dumplings:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
4 tbsp melted butter
✅ Instructions
1. Make the soup base
1. In a large pot, melt the butter.
2. Add the onion (and celery if using) and cook until softened.
3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
4. Add shredded chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
5. Add the milk or cream and stir well.
2. Make the dumplings
1. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Add milk and melted butter.
3. Stir until a soft dough forms (don’t overmix).
3. Add dumplings
1. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering soup.
2. Cover the pot and do not lift the lid for 15 minutes.
3. The dumplings will puff up and cook through
