Show your love with these adorable Valentine’s Day Cake Pops! They’re sweet, festive, and the perfect treat for sharing. With a moist cake center and a colorful candy coating, these pops are as fun to make as they are to eat.
Ingredients
For the Cake Pops:
1 boxed cake mix (any flavor, prepared as directed)
1/3 cup frosting (vanilla, chocolate, or cream cheese)
For the Coating and Decorations:
2 cups candy melts (red, pink, white, or a mix)
Lollipop sticks
Valentine’s sprinkles (hearts, glitter, or nonpareils)
Optional: Edible glitter or pearl dust
Instructions
Prepare the Cake Balls:
Bake the cake according to the package directions. Allow it to cool completely.
Crumble the cake into a large bowl, breaking it into fine crumbs with your hands or a fork.
Add the frosting to the crumbled cake a little at a time, mixing until the mixture holds together when pressed (avoid overmixing to prevent a sticky texture).
Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 30 minutes or until firm.
Assemble the Cake Pops:
Melt a small amount of candy melts in the microwave according to package instructions. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy, then insert it halfway into a cake ball. This helps secure the stick.
Place the cake pops back in the freezer for 15 minutes to set.
Coat and Decorate:
Melt the remaining candy melts in separate bowls for each color. Dip each cake pop into the melted candy, gently tapping off excess coating.
Immediately decorate with Valentine’s sprinkles, edible glitter, or pearl dust before the coating sets.
Stick the cake pops into a styrofoam block or cake pop stand to dry completely.
Serve:
Arrange the cake pops in a bouquet or gift box for a festive Valentine’s Day presentation!
Pro Tip:
For a fun flavor twist, use strawberry cake and cream cheese frosting for a perfectly pink, tangy treat.
