Ingredients
1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Brown the Sausage:
In a large pot, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat. Once cooked, remove the sausage from the pot and set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables:
In the same pot, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
Add Tomatoes and Broth:
Stir in the diced tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Incorporate Sausage and Cream:
Return the browned sausage to the pot and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for a few more minutes until heated through.
Season and Serve:
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese.
