The Ultimate Crunchy Chicken Caesar Sandwich
This sandwich combines a golden, extra-crispy chicken cutlet with the bright, creamy flavors of a classic Caesar salad, all tucked into a toasted brioche bun or ciabatta roll.
π₯ Ingredients
For the Crunchy Chicken:
2 large chicken breasts (sliced into thin cutlets)
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs (for maximum crunch)
1/2 cup All-purpose flour
2 Eggs (beaten)
1 tsp Garlic powder & Onion powder
1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
Salt & Pepper to taste
Neutral oil for frying (Vegetable, Canola, or Grapeseed)
For the Caesar Dressing (Quick Version):
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
2 cloves Garlic (minced)
Optional: 1 tsp anchovy paste for authentic depth
For Assembly:
Buns: Brioche, Ciabatta, or a Hoagie roll
Greens: Romaine lettuce (chopped or whole leaves)
Extra Cheese: Shaved Parmesan
Crunch Factor: Optional croutons (crushed) or crispy bacon bits
πͺ Instructions
1. Prep the Chicken
Place chicken cutlets between plastic wrap and pound to an even thickness (about 1/2 inch). Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
2. The Breading Station
Set up three shallow bowls:
Flour: Mix with garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Egg: Whisk with a splash of water.
Panko: Use plain Panko breadcrumbs.
Dredge the chicken in flour (shake off excess), dip in egg, and press firmly into the Panko until fully coated.
3. Fry to Perfection
Heat 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, fry the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until deeply golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Drain on a wire rack to keep the bottom crispy.
4. Mix the Dressing
Whisk the mayo, Parmesan, lemon juice, Worcestershire, mustard, and garlic in a small bowl. Adjust lemon or salt to your preference.
5. Assemble
Toast the Bun: Butter the buns and toast until golden.
Dress the Greens: Toss the Romaine lettuce in a little bit of the Caesar dressing before putting it on the sandwich.
Layer:
Bottom bun
Generous smear of Caesar dressing
Crunchy chicken cutlet
Shaved Parmesan cheese
Dressed Romaine lettuce
Top bun (also smeared with dressing)
π‘ Chef's Tips
Keep it Crispy: Never place fried chicken directly on a plate or paper towel; use a wire cooling rack so air circulates underneath.
The Bread: If using a Ciabatta roll, press the sandwich slightly after assembly to let the juices soak into the nooks and crannies of the bread.
Add Heat: Add a dash of red pepper flakes to the flour mixture if you want a spicy Caesar kick.
