This Creamy Smothered Chicken and Rice is the kind of one-pan dinner that warms you from the inside out. Tender chicken nestled into fluffy rice and smothered in a savory, creamy sauce—it’s filling, comforting, and perfect for busy weeknights or Sunday supper π
π ingredients:
• 4–6 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs or breasts
• Salt and black pepper, to taste
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp paprika
• 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
• 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
• 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
• 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
• 1/2 cup sour cream or heavy cream
• Optional: chopped parsley or green onions

season & sear
Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Heat oil or butter in a large oven-safe skillet.
Sear chicken 3–4 minutes per side until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
build the rice
In the same skillet, add rice and stir 1 minute to coat.
Pour in chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream.
Stir until smooth.
assemble
Nestle chicken back into the rice mixture.
Cover tightly with foil or lid.
bake
Bake 35–40 minutes until rice is tender and chicken is cooked through.

Remove cover and bake 5 more minutes if needed to thicken.
Garnish with parsley or green onions and serve hot.
