This elevated take on a classic comfort dish features tender beef patties packed with flavor and finished in a rich, silky mushroom-onion gravy. Cozy, hearty, and perfect with mashed potatoes.

• 1 1/2 lb ground beef (80/20 works best)
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/3 cup milk
• 1 egg
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/2 small onion, finely grated
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1 tbsp olive oil
mushroom gravy
• 2 tbsp butter
• 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
• 1 small onion, thinly sliced
• 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• Optional: fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
🥣 directions:
make the patties
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic, grated onion, Worcestershire, Dijon, salt, and pepper.
Mix gently until just combined.
Form into 4–6 oval patties.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear patties 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to be cooked through yet).
Remove patties and set aside.
build the gravy
In the same skillet, melt butter.
Add mushrooms and sliced onion and cook until softened and golden, about 6–8 minutes.
Sprinkle in flour and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Slowly whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon.
Bring to a gentle simmer until gravy thickens.
finish
Return patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top.
Cover and simmer on low for 10–15 minutes until patties are cooked through.
serve
Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. Serve hot.
