Ham and Cheese Stuffed Rolls

Ham and Cheese Stuffed Rolls

Perfect for snacks, breakfast, or family gatherings.
πŸ“ Ingredients (for 15-18 units):
For the dough:
500g wheat flour (strong or all-purpose)
10g dry yeast (or 30g fresh yeast)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
250ml warm milk
50ml vegetable oil or melted butter
For the filling:
200g chopped cooked ham
200g grated cheese (mozzarella, gouda, or whatever you prefer)
2 small tomatoes, chopped and seeded
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or mixed dried herbs
Pepper to taste
Oregano to taste
For brushing:
1 egg yolk with a splash of milk (for shine)
πŸ‘¨‍🍳 Step by step:
1. Prepare the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk with the yeast and sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add the egg, oil, and gradually add the flour and salt. Knead until the dough is soft and elastic (about 10 minutes by hand or 5 with a mixer).
Cover with a cloth and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Prepare the filling:
Mix the chopped ham, grated cheese, tomatoes, parsley, and seasonings in a bowl. Set aside.
3. Form the rolls:
Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each portion into an oval shape. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center and roll into a cylinder, sealing the edges tightly.
4. Second proofing:
Place the rolls on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.
Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
5. Paint and bake:
Brush with the egg yolk and milk mixture. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
6. Serve:
Let cool slightly on a wire rack and serve warm. Delicious!
