For the Steak:
1 lb flank or sirloin steak
Salt, black pepper, garlic powder to taste
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1/2 onion, sliced
1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
For the Mashed Potatoes:
3 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup milk or cream
Salt & pepper to taste
For the Gravy:
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1 cup beef broth
Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
For the Green Beans:
1 1/2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt & pepper to taste
👨🍳 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
1. Prep the Mashed Potatoes:
Peel and chop potatoes, boil in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 min).
Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and fluffy.
2. Make the Gravy:
In a saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour and cook 1 min.
Slowly add beef broth, whisking constantly until thickened.
Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder. Simmer for 3–5 min.
3. Cook the Steak:
Season steak generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Sear steak 3–4 min per side (or to preferred doneness).
Remove and let rest. In the same pan, add butter, onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté 5–7 min until caramelized.
4. Sauté the Green Beans:
In a skillet, heat oil or butter and sauté green beans with minced garlic until bright green and tender-crisp (about 5–6 min).
Season with salt and pepper.
5. Slice & Plate:
Slice steak against the grain.
