Lettuce hearts cut into wedges are perfect for salad dressing and look quite elegant! Many recipes use blue cheese salad dressing with lettuce wedges, but I wanted to try something different, so I made this feta cheese salad dressing. It only takes a few minutes to make and is incredibly delicious—creamy, slightly tangy, and salty from the feta cheese. This dressing is also great as a dip; simply reduce the amount of milk to achieve the perfect consistency for dipping vegetable sticks or tortilla chips.


Ingredients:


Salad Dressing:

1/2 cup (crushed) shredded feta cheese (preferably Danish feta or other soft feta cheese)

1/2 cup whole egg mayonnaise

1/4 cup plain yogurt

1/2 to 3/4 cup milk (adjust to your desired consistency)

1/2 clove garlic, crushed, or 1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves

Lettuce Wedges:

1 head of lettuce heart

Instructions:


Prepare the lettuce wedges:

Cut the lettuce heart into 8 wedges, carefully slicing evenly from the center, ensuring each wedge remains intact.


Make the salad dressing:

In a medium bowl, mash the feta cheese and mayonnaise with a fork until smooth. Using a creamier feta cheese (such as Danish feta) will make it easier to mash into a smooth paste.


Add the yogurt, half the milk, lemon juice, garlic, and oregano leaves, and stir vigorously until smooth.


Adjust the consistency of the salad dressing to your liking using the remaining milk. I prefer it slightly thicker so it adheres better to the lettuce. If you prefer a thinner dressing, it's suitable for tossing salads.


Adjust the seasoning to your taste. Since the feta cheese and mayonnaise have different saltiness levels, adjust the seasoning last.


Plating: Place one or two lettuce wedges on each plate and drizzle with the salad dressing.


Tips:


The salad dressing can be stored in the refrigerator sealed for up to a week, but it will thicken, so dilute it with a little milk before serving.
